Aggressive Blue Fronted Amazon?
My husband got this bird from a friend who did'nt want it anymore , they decide they wanted a double act of Arican Greys. He's 10 yrs old and they never payed much attention to it. It will try to bite every time i stick my hand in the shut within to water or feed it or change out the toys, i hold to wear leather gloves to keep from getting bit. I can give it a treat through the cage and it won't bite, also they never tried to coach it to talk we had it 6 months now and it won't chitchat , it did pick up barking from our dogs but other than that it just does the regular screaming , whistling and making other noises. Will it ever learn to gossip and what can we do about the biting?

I emailed her in the order of my Blue-Front's behavior and she gave me some valuable information. Since the bird is ten years old, it is probably going to clutch a while to correct and change behaviors, you just have to be incredibly patient. Blue-Fronted Amazons are smart, you can teach them to talk at any age.
Zons are funny birds they can be very aggressive and are HUGE clowns. consider that the bird has be all but ignored for the first 10 years of his life you will enjoy to be paitent and consistent and I think you can make friends with him.

Thankfully zons are extremely expressive and will normally tell you by tail fanning and eye pinning that they are going to bite. Since you said you own had him for 6 months part of that time hes probably been a bit hormonal! My guys here adjectives went thru a very hormonal patch in the hasty fall.. even my zon Bubba that I have had since he be 4 months old took a chunk outta me! He is an orange wing and is relative to the blue front just a slightly smaller bird!

Not all birds confer ... some are great at sounds. Snoop is a U2 we rescued about 6 months ago hes 25 and just makes the typical U2 noise and a version of his name. Rico our M2 was 11 when he come to us .. he said Hi Im Rico .. Now 5 years later is around a 50-60 word vocabulary... Bubba surpasses him but started talking at 4 months.
